There are many scholarship and college money opportunities that are designed to celebrate our freedom and independence in America while also honoring those who fought on behalf of our country. See below to learn about a few of these opportunities:
 
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
Additional Information: This scholarship contest is open to grade 9th through 12th grade students who write and record a three- to five-minute essay addressing the assigned theme, which changes each year. Previous assigned themes have been “I’m Optimistic About Our Nation’s Future,” “Freedom’s Obligation,” “Reaching Out to America’s Future,”and “What Price Freedom?” To participate in this contest, visit the website for more information, speak with your high school counselor, or contact your local VFW post. Sons of the American Revolution
Additional Information: Oratory competition for students in grades 9 through 12 who submit an original five- to six-minute oration on a personality, event, or document of the American Revolutionary War and how it relates to the United States today. Deadlines vary.
 
American Legion 
Additional Information: Open to high school students under age 20, this oratorical contest is designed to develop knowledge of the U. S. Constitution. In addition to the scholarships awarded by the national headquarters, several hundred scholarships may be awarded by intermediate organizations to participants at the post, district, county, or department levels of competition. Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
Additional Information: Students must write an essay expressing their views on a patriotic theme that changes annually. The contest is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization (VFW). Awards range from $500 to $5,000. The contest is open to students in grades 6 through 8. The deadline for this year is October 31. See Senior Year Head Start for additional information.

At the end of the game, this was the first comment,

The session was designed to help high school students, college students, parents and counselors have fun while learning more about winning scholarships for college. Although we had players who did really well such as Jillian (1st place), Jadon T (2nd place) and LBark (3rd place), the majority of our group got only 56% of the questions correct. So obviously there’s still a lot for everyone to learn about winning scholarships!
