Build Your Scholarship Resume Before You Need It
One of the biggest mistakes students make is waiting until scholarship season to create a scholarship résumé or academic résumé. Start building yours now by keeping an organized record of your achievements, experiences, and accomplishments, including:

✅ Classes you’ve completed (including AP, IB, Dual Enrollment, Honors, and Career & Technical Education courses)
✅ Extracurricular activities
✅ Community service and volunteer experience
✅ Leadership positions
✅ Awards and honors
✅ Work experience, internships, and job shadowing

Your scholarship résumé will become the basis for scholarship applications, scholarship essays, college admissions applications, recommendation requests, and other opportunities throughout high school and college.
Creating your résumé early also helps you identify areas where you still have time to grow. For example, do you need more community service hours, additional leadership experience, more focused extracurricular involvement, or new awards that demonstrate your impact and commitment? By keeping your scholarship résumé up to date throughout the year, you’ll save time, stay organized, apply for more scholarships with less stress, and maximize your opportunities to win more scholarship money.
