With Veteran’s day coming soon, we wanted to take a quick moment to thank all active military and retired military for their service. We also wanted to let the military and their dependents know about scholarships available specifically to them. See below for scholarships included in the chapter titled, “Scholarships and College Funding for the Military and Their Family,” in Winning Scholarships for College (Fifth edition).
Scholarships for Military Children Program from the Fisher House Foundation
Open to dependent unmarried children under age 23 of active-duty personnel, reserve/guard, and retired military members, or survivors of service members who died while on active duty or who died while receiving retired pay from the military. The Fisher House Foundation also offers scholarships to military spouses.
Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship
Renewable scholarships are offered by Wells Fargo to students honorably discharged from the United States military, or to spouses of disabled veterans. Applicants must be a high school or GED graduate, or a student currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. To encourage program completion, the scholarship may increase by award amounts each year beyond the initial amount awarded.
