Scholarships for Black History Month and Scholarships for African American Students

Did you know there are scholarships focusing on Black History month as well as those specifically for African Americans?

For example, Blacks@Microsoft (BAM) offers $5,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors of African or American descent who are interested in pursuing careers in technology. The scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years for a total of $20,000. They also have $2,500 BAM technology stipends available. Deadline: April 10.

Or consider the Apple HBCU Scholars Program for outstanding undergraduate, Masters, Law or Ph.D. students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Those selected will receive a $15,000 merit-based scholarship and participate in a 12-week internship during the summer of 2020. See this page for more information.  Deadline: Rolling deadline until the program is full. Our suggestion – DON’T WAIT if you qualify.

On a general level, the Regions Riding Forward Scholarship Essay Contest* is available to ALL high school seniors who write about an African-American who has inspired and motivated them. Students can earn a $5,000 or $3,500 scholarship. Deadline: February 29.

Two additional scholarship examples for outstanding African American students are the Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship and the Wynetta A. Frazier Sister-to-Sister Scholarship. The Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and the Wynetta A. Frazier “Sister-to-Sister” Scholarship is for mature adult learners continuing their education. Visit the
NHBW, Inc. web site to get additional information. Deadline: February 28, 2020.
